5 Things Women Want Men To Know About Menopause

This week I'm focusing on men and menopause, in particular the 5 things women want men to know about menopause.

If you're a man watching this, you're in the right place. And if you're a woman, you might want to share this with your partner or husband to help to open up the communication about this taboo subject and give them a better understanding of what’s going on with you.

So here are 5 things women want men to know about menopause:

  1. “We are not rejecting you.”

    During menopause, it’s not uncommon for women to feel irrational and they often can't have you in their space in the way that they did before, so men usually end up feeling rejected. That's not really what women want you to think at all. They're going through a phase in their lives.They don't really understand what's going on in their body or their mind, so they are just trying to deal with this in the best way they can.

  2. “We are experiencing a lot of change.”

    During menopause women often feel as though they've been possessed by an alien. They don't know what's going on in their body and their mind, so it’s hard for them to help you understand what’s going on.

  3. “We are feeling scared and vulnerable.”

    During the menopause women feel vulnerable, scared, and isolated. They're going through this massive change both physically and emotionally and they feel that it's only happening to them until they start talking to other women.

  4. “We need some reassurance from you”

    Following on from my previous point, because women are feeling vulnerable, scared, and isolated during this time they need a lot of reassurance, love and comfort. What they really need is understanding, good communication and a shoulder to cry on if they’re feeling down.

  5. “We need your support.”

    It’s important for everyone involved to know that menopause is just a transition period. It isn't the beginning of the end, especially if you can get the right information.
