The Mental Symptoms Of Menopause

Going through menopause you will experience all types of symptoms and I like to break down menopausal symptoms into two categories:

  1. Physical

  2. Mental

Recently, I discussed the physical symptoms of menopause (if you missed it, you can read it here). So as promised, in this week’s ‘Weekly Wisdom’ I’m focusing on the mental symptoms of menopause.

Symptoms

Irritability and feelings of sadness are the most common mental symptoms of menopause. Often, they can be managed through lifestyle changes, such as a good diet and learning ways to relax and reduce stress.

Here are just a few of the mental symptoms women can experience during the menopause:

  • Irritability

  • Panic attacks

  • Palpitations

  • Feelings of sadness

  • Lack of motivation

  • Anxiety

  • Aggressiveness

  • Difficulty concentrating

  • Fatigue

  • Mood swings

  • Depression

  • Memory loss

If you are feeling irritable and sad, there is a good chance it could be related to menopause, however, if you’re worried about how you’re feeling you should go and see your local GP. Tell your doctor how you are feeling, so he or she can rule out other medical or psychiatric conditions.

If you would like to find out more about what’s going on in your body as you hit the menopause feel free to join my free menopause Virtual Class. I will be explaining the changes that occur and how to overcome your symptoms without resorting to drugs or hormones.
