How To Choose Between Natural Menopause & HRT

This week’s Weekly Wisdom is all about making choices before, during and after menopause.

We read so much conflicting information about menopause and often the experiences that your family and friends have had dictates how you're going to deal with menopause.

Most of us have heard of hormone replacement therapy (HRT). At one point, it was very fashionable to take HRT, and everyone thought they would do that for the rest of their lives. Subsequently however, there has been a lot of research around the world to show that it wasn't a great idea, and even worse related to issues like increased breast cancer and heart disease. Then some other researchers say, "Well maybe they had analysed the data wrong, but it's still very confusing."

What is certain is that even for those women who choose HRT, it’s not a long term solution or treatment.

You’ve really got to learn not just to manage your menopause symptoms, so it’s good to look at alternative approaches such as the approach I've been using with my patients for over 25 years. I’m proud to say over 90% of my patients are completely ok, without taking any drugs or hormones, just by following my programme.

If you are really worried about what’s happening with your body and the symptoms have come on suddenly, then you should go to your doctor and get checked out. If you're already on HRT, don't rush to come off it, because I normally establish my patients on the alternative, and then wean them off the HRT, because you don't want to have more extreme symptoms than you've already got.

If you would like to find out more about what’s going on in your body as you hit the menopause feel free to join my free menopause Virtual Class. I will be explaining about the changes that occur and how to overcome your symptoms without resorting to drugs or hormones.
